Palenque is a rhythmic portrait of San Basilio de Palenque, the first town in the Americas to have broken free from European domination.
Guided by the inherent rhythms of day-to-day life—the blows of a machete, the grinding of corn, a woman lulling a baby to sleep— Palenque searches for musicality in a town where music is woven into its history. It is an ode dedicated to a community that has greatly influenced Colombian culture through its many contributions to the collective memory.
